It is the most self-contained of Dubrovnik's districts: guests can swim, eat and spend a week here without needing the centre, though the bus link to Pile gate runs frequently for the days they do.
The shoreline is the draw. Copacabana beach faces north across the channel towards the Franjo Tuđman bridge and the Elaphiti, with shallow pebble-and-concrete entry that suits families, sunbeds and water-sports operators in season, and sunsets that fall directly in front of the beach bars. The path continues round the headland past rock platforms and smaller coves, so quieter swimming is never more than a few minutes' walk.
Accommodation is dominated by large complexes with pools and half-board options, and most of the district's restaurants sit inside them, supplemented by a handful of independent places towards Lapad. Babin Kuk suits beach-first stays and families; visitors whose priority is the Old Town after dark usually base closer to the walls.
