The district is where Dubrovnik goes to feel like a resort rather than a monument: pedestrian promenade, beach at the head of the bay, and hotels threaded between gardens and pines.
The spine is Šetalište kralja Zvonimira, the walking street that runs from the post office roundabout down to the bay, lined with restaurant terraces, cafes and ice-cream counters that serve the surrounding hotels. The beach at Uvala has shallow entry, pedalos and sunbeds in season, with rockier swimming spots around both headlands and a coastal path that continues towards Babin Kuk.
For visitors, Lapad is the practical base: room rates undercut the Old Town, parking exists, and the frequent Libertas buses cover the fifteen minutes to Pile gate. Most of the district's restaurants and cafes run at gentler prices than inside the walls, and the evening promenade crowd is a mix of hotel guests and local families, which keeps the place feeling lived-in through the season.
