Getting Around Dubrovnik
Transport in Dubrovnik covers airport transfers from Cilipi, car rental, the Libertas bus network, taxis and Uber and the Gruz ferries.
Dubrovnik Airport sits 20 kilometres south-east at Cilipi, linked to the city by the Platanus shuttle timed to flights, terminating near Pile gate, and by taxis and pre-booked transfers that reach Lapad hotels in around forty minutes. Within the city the orange Libertas buses do the heavy lifting; the workhorse lines connect Pile with Gruz and the Lapad and Babin Kuk hotel zones every ten to fifteen minutes in season, with tickets cheaper from kiosks than on board.
Cars are useful for Konavle, Peljesac and Montenegro day trips but a liability in the centre: the Old Town is entirely pedestrian, and parking near the walls is scarce and among the most expensive in Croatia, so most rentals are collected at the airport or in Gruz. The port at Gruz handles the rest of the network, Jadrolinija ferries to the Elaphiti islands and the catamaran links up the coast, alongside the cruise quay. Uber and Bolt operate alongside the metered taxi ranks at Pile, Gruz and the airport.
